Skasom's Greetings.
MEETING NOTES FOR NOVEMBER 16, 1986
The November meeting got under way at 2:30 at the Huntington
Library with about 15 members present.
OLD BUSINESS
The group buy of QL kits for our group and one or two other
user groups is almost finalized. Doug Dewey is coordinating the
group buy and will be Sending a letter to those people who have
expressed an interest in the GL kit. The letter will contain the
final details and should arrive near the time of this newsletter.
The next library tape is expected to be ready at the December
meeting to members who attend and will be available for order. The
charge for the tape will be $3.00 plus an exchange 60 minute tape
with a non-copyrighted program on it. The submission of an
article, review, or tips for the newsletter in lieu of a program
is also welcome. The charge is $6.00 for those without an exchange
tape ang a program or newsletter submission.
To be fair to the members who have not received library tapes
under the old “loop” policy, we intend to make up a special no-
charge loop to bring them_up to date. Please write in and list the
tapes (version 3.5, 4.6, 5.0, etc.) which you have not received.
NEW BUSINESS
Steve K. indicated that the Association of Computer Educators
Inc, are ieoking for new members. They are sponsoring a
conference: “Compu ers in Education ... Coming of Age” on Saturday
December 13, 86 at the Lincoln Center campus of Fordham Univ.
Some members have mentioned that recent issues of the
newsletter have not contained any items for TS/1000 users. The
reason is because there have been no submissions from the members
for this machine. If 38 have any ideas, tips, or short programs
for the ZX/8i or TS1000/1500, please send them in so we can
publish them. Hugo G. brought 2 of his programs for the library.
Tom S. displayed an ipezpens ive 80 column thermal printer he
recently purchased called Bi lue. The printer is serial port and
has been advertised for as low as $29.95. The printer works in
self test but has been a problem to interface to the computer.
Stoney McM. reported that he has seen an uncased Hi Res RGB
monitor selling for about. $65 on bong island: ingluded | in the
rice s a power su which réquires assem .
i185 4692594 for nore Information. oe y z ener oe
Chuck R. displayed BASIC and MC search routines for BASIC
programs which listed the line Numbers where the search string was
ound. These will be developed in a future issue.
QL News z
We are hoping that by the time you receive this newsletter
that you would have heard, in writing, from Doug Dewey about the
QL kit that you are planning to order. For further details of the
deal please see Page 2. By the way the reason for the delays is
insistence of all sides vy erned that every detail be in writing.
4 For example, it took At gg Éfesent our User Group " Dealer", i.e.
Doug Dewey, with written details of what had already been worked
out on the phone.
